Summary: Arthur Pendragon and Merlin Emrys have one thing in common: They both know about loss. One is a farmer, run off his land. One is a rich man's son, looking for his mother's heritage. They meet in the deserts of the western frontier, where getting lost seems easy, but taking a chance might just find you the place you belong.
Author Notes: I can't say how delighted I was when I saw I had been assigned to remix one of Cookie's stories! I had a hard time to decide on one idea, but in the end settled on writing an AU of one of her AUs, “Desert Places”. I loved the idea of two lost people finding a home in each other and I also loved her metaphor, so I decided to run with it and make an angst-filled western out of her cute bookshop AU. I hope she can can forgive me. ;)
